All our canteens are made of the highest grade stainless steel on the market, 18/8 grade 304. This is the same stainless steel used by the entire US food preparation industry as well as all dairy facilities. It doesn’t leach any toxins into your water and it’s 100% BPA free. Since the high grade stainless steel is the essential foundation for our company, we decided to call it Element 304.

Your teeth. Element 304 chose polypropylene #5 because it's softer than other types of plastics and contains zero Bisphenol A (BPA). BPA leaches from some kinds of plastics leading to various diseases. Polypropylene has no known leaching characteristics and is perfectly safe.

Yes, just like any other single-walled container. But, this only occurs for about five minutes after you place ice or very cold water into your canteen. After that the water stays cool with no more sweating.

No. Element 304 canteens are single walled and not for use with hot liquids because there's nothing to insulate the bottle and you could burn yourself. Warm beverages can be used at your own personal comfort level.

We do not recommend it. If you have too much water in the canteen when you place it in the freezer it just might blow the top off.

Element 304 canteens are dishwasher safe and are also easy to clean with a bottle brush and mild soap. We also recommend an old fashioned cleaner: white vinegar and baking soda.
The top can be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher, however, be sure to remove the o-ring from underneath the lid. If you don’t do this the ring may get lost in the wash.

While aluminum is lightweight, it leaches toxic chemicals when it comes in contact with anything acidic. Therefore, aluminum has to be lined with something to make sure the contents are safe for drinking. Usually it is lined with plastic which can leach chemicals, baked on epoxy, or ceramic which can crack.

Element 304 canteens, as well as EVERY OTHER canteen company in the world are made in China. Element 304 canteens are however produced safely, sustainably and the people who make Element 304 canteens are treated well and paid fairly. Stainless steel is stainless steel. There are many different varieties of this material but grade 18/8 304 is the best and that is what our canteens are made of. If they were produced here in the US they would be the same material, the only difference would be the distance to the manufacturer. Ironically, most stainless products produced here in the US are made from resources mined from the soils of Australia, Brazil and Canada. Truth be told, if we produced all our own steel products over here instead of exporting them to China, US pollution would be far worse than it already is. It’s actually benefiting our US soil having all the manufactures away from home. Think about it… would you rather have a stainless steel canteen made in China out of the same material or a large polluting factory down the street from your house that makes canteens that finally say “Made in USA?” Also be aware, the pollution produced by making stainless steel canteens is still far less than the ASTRONIMICALL amount of pollution created from the manufacturing of plastic water bottles when the “single use” factor is taken into account….not to mention our plastic water bottle manufacturers ARE located in our backyard, creating a sarcastic win win for the polluting of US air and land. No. You can browse our store and purchase items without registering. Once you have added a product to your cart and clicked the Checkout button, you can elect to register or continue shopping as a guest without registering.

To update your contact information you must first sign in. Click My Account on the menu bar to access your account information. Select Address Book from the My Account menu and then select the Contact Name of the account for which you wish to update the contact information. Make your changes and then click Update Contact.

To update your e-mail address and password you must first sign in. Click My Account on the menu bar to access your account information and then select Change Email address/Password from the My Account menu. You may update your e-mail address, first and last name, and change your password, then click Update Sign In.

To view your order history you must first sign in. Click My Account on the menu bar to access your account information. Select View Order History from the My Account menu and then select the order number for the order you wish to view.

You can include special instructions for orders during checkout. In your shopping cart, click Checkout (if you haven't already, sign in or continue as a guest). On the Shipping Method & Instructions page, type your special instructions or comments in the Special Instructions text box. The store owner will receive these instructions along with the order. Click Submit to continue with the checkout process.
If your order consists entirely of downloadable products, the Shipping Method & Instructions page will not display, as the products will not be shipped but downloaded.
